South Metro Fine Arts Academy - CHBC NEW
The South Metro Fine Arts Academy is a ministry of Capitol Hill Baptist Church that exists to promote the gifts of the arts, as well as a response to the Giver of these gifts. We seek to provide a teaching environment of encouragement and care.
Music Instruction
We offer private instruction to all ages in piano, guitar, voice, bass, and violin. Students receive one-on-one attention for 30 minutes each week. Students are expected to practice a little bit each day to ensure what they learn is retained week-to-week. Piano students should have a full size keyboard or piano available to them for practicing. Students taking guitar or violin should wait until after the first lesson before purchasing an instrument. We encourage all students to participate in a yearly recital offered in May. This is a great opportunity for them to showcase all they have been learning and it is a great source to build confidence. Students are responsible for purchasing books and/or music for lessons. Teachers will communicate what is needed and where to purchase it.
Art Instruction
Group Art Instruction Instructors touch on painting, drawing, sculpting, ceramics or a combination based on the interest and skill level of each class. Students will earn basic principles including texture, color, and value. Lessons are one hour each week. All art supplies are part of the private-art fee and the instructor will have them for your student at the lesson. Families are encouraged to attend one of the recitals in May and check out the artwork that will be displayed.
SMFAA Schedule
Classes are offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday 2:00-8:00 p.m. during the spring and fall semesters, depending on teacher availability. Classes are offered Monday and Tuesday 2:00-8:00 p.m. during the summer semester, depending on teacher availability.

Brady Paul, Interim Director
Brady is the Pastor for Worship Ministries at Capitol Hill Baptist Church.
Lahoma Rosser, Piano & Voice Teacher
Lahoma graduated from UCO where she earned her Bachelor of Music Ed Degree and Master of Music Ed. She was a music teacher in the public school system for more than 29 years. She has been teaching piano and voice through the SMFAA since 2006. She also served as the SMFAA Director for 4 years. She and her husband Jim have three children and 6 grands. They are members of Capitol Hill Baptist Church.
Ginny Pass, Voice and Violin
Ginny has a MA in Christian Worship and a BA in Music Ed from the Institute for Worship Studies and is the Music Director at Moore 1st UMC. She enjoys playing the violin for various venues in the community and has been with the academy since 2016.
Ken James, Guitar Ken has played the guitar for more than 50 years and has taught for over 20 years. He also plays bass, drums, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, and key-board. He's played in a number of bands, playing a variety of instruments and perform-ing a variety of musical styles. He is proficient at recording and has a home studio. He is a member of Capitol Hill Baptist Church.
Kaitlyn Jennings, Piano and Clarinet Teacher
Kaitlyn grew up in Duncan, Oklahoma and has played piano and clarinet for over 18 years and guitar and other woodwinds for 10 years. She is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University with a BME in Instrumental Music Education and has a double MA from Wheaton College in Formations in Minis-try and History of Christianity. During high school and college, Kaitlyn was involved in the Women’s Chorus, Instrumental Ensembles, and vocal ensembles. Kaitlyn has partic-ipated in church worship as a vocal and instrumental soloist, and as a band member of a local community band. Kaitlyn is currently a full time teacher for Epic Charter schools.
Sean Paul, Piano Teacher
Sean Paul, a native of Oklahoma, developed a profound love for music at a very young age, which led him to discover his passion for playing the piano and singing. After serving 30+ years in worship ministry, Sean is now pursuing his love for composing, arranging, and teaching piano. He earned a Bachelor of Music from Oklahoma Baptist University and a Master of Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
